Orr is a gateway community to Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota’s only national park. Founded in 1975, Voyageurs National Park is a water-based park of interconnected waterways including Crane, Rainy, Kabatogama and Namakan Lakes. Most of the 218,000-acre park is only accessible by water but is open to motorized use, creating a virtual paradise for boaters and snowmobilers.
The remote location of Voyageurs National Park makes the area a perfect destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Visitors regularly report sightings of moose, white-tailed deer, beaver, otters, timberwolves and black bears in the area along with more than 240 species of birds.
